Dion - King of the New York Streets

Dion Francis DiMucci, better known simply as Dion, is an American singer, songwriter and guitarist. His music has incorporated elements of doo-wop, pop, rock, R&B, folk and blues.

Initially as the lead singer of Dion and the Belmonts, and then during his solo career, Dion was one of the most popular American rock and roll performers of the pre-British Invasion era.

He had 39 Top 40 hits in the late 1950s and early 1960s as a solo performer, or with the Belmonts and the Del-Satins. He is best remembered for the singles "Runaround Sue", "The Wanderer", "Ruby Baby" and "Lovers Who Wander", among other hits.

Although Dion's career wasn't over when King of the New York Streets appeared, this three-CD package is likely to be the most thorough overview of his output to be heard in one place.

3CD set. 65-track compilation of all the hits, plus rare and unreleased material!

Sure, there were the days with the Belmont's and plenty of decent cuts on disc 1

but what follows on 2 and especially 3 are like discovering an artist you may have never known

Dion came up out of the Bronx in the 50s and tore through the music charts in a ferocious display of talent. By age 27, Dion had done everything he had dreamed of: bought his parents a home, married his childhood sweetheart, and become the most popular singer on the charts--only to become a heroin addict and drop out of sight. Here is the story of how Dion emerged a more contemplative man--in his own words, a "walking miracle".

Enjoy this collection of Dion and the Belmont hits.
