Philly's Own: Johnny's Dance Band

Includes WMMR live concert from the Bijou Cafe in Philadelphia and live interview with JDB members

If you are looking for a band that combines rock, blues, funk, and humor, you might want to check out Johnny's Dance Band. Johnny's Dance Band is a Philadelphia-based group that was formed in the early 1970s and gained popularity in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The band is known for its original songs that often satirize various aspects of life, such as love, sex, politics, and religion.

Johnny's Dance Band was founded by Tony Juliano and Nanette Mancini, who met at a music store in 1971. They started writing songs together and soon formed a band with Bobby Lenti on guitar and Courtney Colletti on bass. The band's name was inspired by a sign that read "Johnny's Dance Band Tonight" at a local club. The band played at various venues in Philadelphia and New Jersey, such as Hecate's Circle, The Main Point, The Bijou Cafe, and The Stone Pony.

JDB members, Tony Juliano, Courtney Colletti & Bobby Lenti talk about the early days of JDB.
