Shepherd’s Pie

Here’s a simple and delicious recipe:



Ingredients:

  • 1 pound lean ground beef or lamb

  • 1 large onion, finely chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 cup beef broth

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste

  • 2 cups mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn)

  • 4 cups mashed potatoes (prepared)

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

  • Salt and pepper to taste


Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. Cook the meat: In a large skillet, cook the ground beef or lamb over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.

  3. Add the vegetables: Stir in the chopped onion and garlic, cooking until softened.

  4. Make the gravy: Add the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and tomato paste. Stir well and let it simmer until the mixture thickens.

  5. Combine: Stir in the mixed vegetables and cook for a few more minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  6. Assemble: Transfer the meat mixture to a baking dish. Spread the mashed potatoes evenly over the top.

  7. Top with cheese: Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the mashed potatoes.

  8. Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 20 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.

  9. Serve: Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
