Here's my twist on the classic oil and vinegar dressing recipe:
Ingredients:
3/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
1/4 cup red wine vinegar (or white wine vinegar, apple cider vinegar, or balsamic vinegar)
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional, for added creaminess and flavor)
1 garlic clove, minced (optional)
1 teaspoon honey or sugar (optional, for a touch of sweetness)
Salt and pepper to taste
Single serving of oil and vinegar dressing:
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
1 teaspoon vinegar (red wine vinegar, white wine vinegar, apple cider vinegar, or balsamic vinegar)
1/4 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional)
1/4 garlic clove, minced (optional)
1/4 teaspoon honey or sugar (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Combine Ingredients: In a small bowl or a jar with a tight-fitting lid, combine the olive oil and vinegar.
Add Mustard: Add the Dijon mustard, if using. This helps to emulsify the dressing, making it a bit creamier.
Add Garlic and Sweetener: Add the minced garlic and honey or sugar, if using.
Season: Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Mix Well: Whisk the ingredients together until well combined. If using a jar, you can shake it vigorously to mix everything together.
Taste and Adjust: Taste the dressing and adjust the seasoning or vinegar to oil ratio as needed.
Tips:
Customize: Feel free to add other herbs and spices like oregano, basil, thyme, or even a pinch of chili flakes for some heat.
Storage: Store the dressing in the refrigerator for up to a week. If it solidifies in the fridge, just let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes and shake well before using.
Keep stirring, keep savoring, and always let your taste buds lead the way!
