Threat of Trump's Military Control

The direst danger of Donald Trump controlling our military is the potential for him to exploit its power for personal or political gain, potentially even turning it against the very citizens it is meant to protect.

Unfortunately, the Commander in Chief is a civilian authority elected by the people and not subject to the same eligibility criteria as military enlistees.

This distinction arises from the foundational principles of civilian control over the military in democratic systems, ensuring that ultimate authority lies with elected representatives rather than with military personnel themselves.

This system is designed to maintain a balance of power, preventing military overreach and safeguarding democratic governance.

However, this framework can present a danger if an unsuitable candidate, such as Donald Trump, becomes the Commander in Chief. Trump's prior actions and behavior have raised significant concerns about his respect for democratic norms and the rule of law.

Given the immense power and responsibility of the Commander in Chief, it's crucial that the individual in this role demonstrates sound judgment, integrity, and a commitment to democratic values.

What We Should Be Most concerned About with Trump Being Commander in Chief:

  • Misuse of Military Power: Concerns arise over Trump utilizing the military to suppress dissent or political opposition, undermining democratic norms.

  • Erosion of Civil Liberties: There's a risk of Trump deploying the military in ways that infringe upon civil liberties, such as unlawful surveillance or suppression of protests.

  • International Instability: Trump's impulsive decision-making could escalate international conflicts, leading to heightened tensions and potential military engagements with severe global consequences.

  • Lack of Accountability: With Trump at the helm, there's a risk of reduced oversight and accountability mechanisms within the military, potentially enabling unchecked actions and abuses of power.

  • Damage to Military Morale and Integrity: Trump's politicization of the military may erode its apolitical nature, damaging morale and trust both within the ranks and among the civilian population, ultimately weakening national security.

Electing Trump could undermine these principles, posing risks to both national and international stability. Therefore, it is essential for voters to carefully consider the implications of their choice and strive to make a responsible decision in November.

The Republicans' control of the Supreme Court, coupled with influence over the military, could significantly redefine our freedoms. Look at the Democrats as a flickering candle and the Republicans as a wildfire out of control, when you vote, vote for those that will not burn the country down.
