Believing in Zeus, Odin, or other ancient deities, like Jesus or Allah, today, with our current understanding of science, history, and mythology, may seem akin to the stubborn adherence to flat Earth theoriesโboth involve clinging to disproven ideas in the face of overwhelming evidence.
These myths, while culturally significant and rich in storytelling, were created to explain natural phenomena before humanity developed the scientific tools to understand the universe.
To hold such beliefs as literal truths now, despite centuries of progress in physics, biology, and astronomy, reflects a disregard for critical thinking and empirical evidence.
However, labeling such individuals as morons may oversimplify the issue, as their beliefs often stem from cultural, personal, or symbolic attachments rather than ignorance alone.
Misguided? Perhaps.
