The poem conveys the message that children should appreciate their parents' love and sacrifice, and not neglect them in their old age.
I gave them life and love and care
I watched them grow and learn and dare
I held them close and let them go
I hoped they'd always remember so
But now they're far and seldom call
They don't reply to my texts at all
They have their own and busy life
They don't need me as a parent in this life
I feel the ache of being alone
I miss the warmth of their voices and tone
I wonder if they ever think of me
Or if I'm just a distant memory
I know they have to live their way
I know I can't make them stay
But please don't forget that I'm still here
And please don't forget that I still care
