She knew she didn't love her anymore. She barely looked at her, let alone spoke to her. She spent most of her time on her phone or ignoring her presence. She felt like a ghost in her own home, invisible and unwanted.
She tried to make things work. She cooked her favorite meals, bought her gifts, suggested activities they could do together. But she always had an excuse. She was too busy, too tired, too bored. He never appreciated her efforts, never thanked her, never smiled.
She wondered what had gone wrong. They used to be so happy, so in love. They used to laugh and cuddle and kiss. They used to share their dreams and fears and secrets. They used to be each other's best friend.
But somewhere along the way, they drifted apart. She became distant and cold. She became lonely and sad. They stopped communicating and connecting. They stopped caring and trying.
She knew she deserved better. She knew she deserved someone who would love her and cherish her and respect her. Someone who would make her feel alive and valued and happy.
But she was afraid to leave her. She was afraid of being alone, of starting over, of facing the unknown. She was afraid of losing her, even though she had already lost her.
So she stayed with her, in a loveless relationship. She stayed with her, hoping she would change. She stayed with her, pretending everything was fine.
She stayed with her, until she couldn't take it anymore.
