The foolproof way to keep your New Year’s resolution?
If you set a New Year’s resolution to fail at something and actually follow through, you’ve technically succeeded.
The Hidden Fear of Success
Some people seem to plan to fail because they set themselves up with unrealistic goals or expectations, either out of fear of success or as a way to protect themselves from disappointment. By choosing objectives that are too ambitious or unlikely, they might subconsciously avoid the pressure of actually succeeding. This self-sabotage could also stem from a lack of confidence or a belief that they don’t deserve to succeed. In some cases, planning to fail can serve as a defense mechanism, ensuring that they don’t face the vulnerability that comes with truly trying and potentially falling short. In a way, it’s easier to embrace failure than to risk the discomfort of success or the hard work that it requires.
Have you ever found yourself setting goals that seemed impossible, just to avoid the pressure of actually succeeding?
