Unhappily Ever After was a darkly comedic sitcom that aired from 1995 to 1999 on The WB.
Created by Ron Leavitt, co-creator of Married... with Children, the show followed the dysfunctional Malloy family, led by bitter and mentally unstable patriarch Jack (Geoff Pierson), who moves into a seedy apartment after his wife, Jennie (Stephanie Hodge), divorces him. Jack finds solace in his imaginary friend, a foul-mouthed, cigar-smoking rabbit named Mr. Floppy (voiced by Bobcat Goldthwait).
The show parodied traditional family sitcom tropes, focusing on crude humor, surreal elements, and satirical takes on relationships and social issues. While it started as a more straightforward family comedy, it eventually leaned heavily into absurdist humor, particularly centered around Jack and Mr. Floppy’s antics.
The series also starred Kevin Connolly, Nikki Cox, and Justin Berfield, with Cox’s character, Tiffany, becoming a breakout star.
