Watch Free. Mr. Washington Goes to Town is a comedy film from 1941, co-directed by William Beaudine and Jed Buell. The film stars F.E. Miller and Mantan Moreland as Wallingford and Schenectady, two prisoners who dream of a luxurious life after Schenectady inherits a hotel from his uncle. However, they soon discover that the hotel is not what they expected. The film was aimed primarily at black audiences and was written and shot in six days. It was followed by a sequel, Lucky Ghost, in the same year. The film is a classic example of black comedy in the 1940s, featuring witty dialogue, slapstick humor, and musical numbers.
