Set Sail for Comedy Aboard the PT-73 with the Crew of McHale’s Navy
McHale's Navy was a sitcom that aired from 1962 to 1966, following the comedic misadventures of a misfit PT boat crew stationed in the South Pacific during World War II.
Led by the scheming but good-hearted Lieutenant Commander Quinton McHale (played by Ernest Borgnine), the crew of PT-73, including lovable conman Ensign Parker (Tim Conway), constantly clashed with their by-the-book superior, Captain Binghamton (Joe Flynn).
The show blended slapstick humor with military hijinks, portraying McHale and his men as resourceful rule-breakers who always managed to save the day despite their unorthodox methods.
In its final season, the setting shifted from the Pacific to an Italian coastal town in Europe, where McHale and his crew found themselves facing new challenges while still outwitting Binghamton.
The show was popular enough to spawn two feature films and remains a nostalgic favorite for fans of classic TV comedy.
