Spanky and Our Gang was an American sunshine pop band that gained popularity in the late 1960s, known for their rich vocal harmonies and upbeat, folk-influenced sound.
Formed in 1966 and fronted by Elaine "Spanky" McFarlane, the group had several hits, including Sunday Will Never Be the Same (1967), Like to Get to Know You (1968), and Lazy Day (1967). Their music blended elements of pop, jazz, and folk-rock, often featuring intricate vocal arrangements reminiscent of The Mamas & The Papas.
Despite their success, the band struggled with internal changes and the shifting music scene, leading to their breakup in 1969. McFarlane later joined a reformed version of The Mamas & The Papas in the 1980s, keeping her connection to the era’s signature vocal-driven pop sound.
