Before Fleetwood Mac sucked, they were one of the most electrifying blues bands of the late 1960s, led by the brilliant Peter Green.
The original Fleetwood Mac, formed in 1967 by Peter Green, Mick Fleetwood, and John McVie, was a powerhouse of British blues. Initially joined by Jeremy Spencer and later Danny Kirwan, the band's early sound was deeply rooted in the blues, influenced by artists like Elmore James and B.B. King.
Their self-titled debut album (Fleetwood Mac, 1968) and follow-up Mr. Wonderful (1968) showcased raw, electrifying guitar work, with Green’s soulful playing and songwriting setting them apart. Hits like "Albatross," "Black Magic Woman," and "Oh Well" cemented their reputation, but Green’s departure in 1970 marked the end of their blues era.
Though the band later evolved into a mainstream rock sensation, the original Fleetwood Mac remains one of the greatest blues-rock groups of its time.
