Tips for Flawless RV Cover Installation

Mastering the Art of RV Cover Installation...

Installing an RV cover can be a bit challenging due to the size of the vehicle and the cover. Here are some tips to make the process easier and more effective:

  1. Clean Your RV: Before installing the cover, clean your RV thoroughly. Remove any dirt, debris, or moisture, as these can damage your RV's surface over time. Make sure the RV is completely dry before covering it.

  2. Enlist Help: RV covers are large and can be heavy. Having someone to help you maneuver the cover will make the installation process much easier. An extra pair of hands can assist in pulling the cover evenly over the RV.

  3. Use Soft Padding: If your RV cover has any sharp or abrasive parts, such as buckles or zippers, consider using soft padding (like foam pipe insulation) on these areas. This will prevent the cover from scratching or damaging the RV's surface.

  4. Start at the Front: Begin installing the cover at the front of the RV. Unfold the cover carefully and drape it over the front of the RV. Ensure that it's evenly distributed on both sides.

  5. Work from Top to Bottom: Pull the cover down gradually, working from the top to the bottom. Smooth out any wrinkles or air pockets as you go. Ensure that the cover fits snugly but not too tight. It should provide adequate coverage without excessive tension.

  6. Secure Straps and Buckles: Most RV covers come with straps and buckles to secure the cover in place. Fasten these tightly to prevent the cover from being blown away by the wind. Make sure the straps are snug but not overly tight to avoid putting excessive stress on the cover.

  7. Use a Ladder: If your RV is tall, consider using a sturdy ladder to reach the higher portions of the vehicle. This will help you ensure that the cover is evenly spread over the entire RV, including the roof.

  8. Check and Adjust Regularly: After installing the cover, walk around the RV to inspect its fit. Check for any loose areas, especially after windy days. If you notice any slack or areas where the cover is not secure, adjust and tighten the straps as needed.

  9. Ventilation: If your RV cover has ventilation panels, make sure they are not obstructed. Proper ventilation prevents mold and mildew growth. If necessary, use vent pillows or supports to maintain airflow under the cover.

  10. Patience and Care: Installing an RV cover can be time-consuming. Be patient and take your time to ensure the cover is installed correctly. Rushing the process might lead to uneven coverage or damage to the cover or your RV.

Remember, practice makes perfect. After a few installations, you'll likely become more efficient at covering your RV.
