The Vindictive Heart

a poem by Belle Webb

Vindictive people, with hearts of stone,

Their actions like venom, sharp and prone,

To strike with force, to hurt and maim,

Leaving scars on souls, forever stained.

Their words are swords, cutting deep,

Their anger fierce, never asleep,

They hold grudges, refuse to forgive,

Their hearts consumed by the need to outlive.

They plot and scheme, seeking revenge,

Their hatred deep, their pain to avenge,

Their eyes like daggers, cold and dark,

Leaving victims scarred, with a painful mark.

But in the end, they're alone and bitter,

Their hearts heavy with hate and litter,

For revenge is a dish, best not served cold,

But instead let go, and new stories unfold.

So if you're hurt by someone's spite,

Don't let it consume you, hold on tight,

Forgive and forget, and move ahead,

For in the end, love and kindness will spread.
