Movie Review: by Belle Webb
"My Five Wives" is a 1999 comedy film directed by Sidney J. Furie, starring Rodney Dangerfield as Monte Peterson, a wealthy and successful businessman who decides to fulfill his dream of having a large family by marrying five women at the same time.
The movie follows Monte's hilarious attempts to balance his five wives' different personalities and preferences, while dealing with his scheming business partner and an IRS agent who suspects him of tax evasion.
Rodney Dangerfield delivers his trademark one-liners and witty comebacks throughout the film, making the audience laugh out loud with his impeccable comic timing. His portrayal of Monte Peterson is both charming and endearing, as he tries his best to make his wives happy while maintaining his sanity.
The five wives, played by talented actresses such as Molly Shannon and Colleen Camp, add their own unique quirks and humor to the film. From the ambitious lawyer to the free-spirited hippie, each wife has her own distinct personality that makes the audience root for them and their relationship with Monte.
The supporting cast, including John Pinette and Andrew Dice Clay, also deliver solid performances, adding more laughs to the already hilarious storyline.
Overall, "My Five Wives" is a fun and light-hearted movie that will keep you entertained from start to finish. It's a classic Rodney Dangerfield comedy that reminds us to never take life too seriously and to always find humor in the absurdities of life.
